Championship game: Kearns 46, Skyline 12

The 2009 KEARNS GREMLINS ARE THE WORLD CONFERENCE CHAMPIONS!!! What a great game played in the most horrible conditions Cougars. It was the coldest and snowiest game I've ever coached in my 14 years of coaching. Us coaches were so worried about how you guys would respond as many of you remember, even warming up was almost unbearable. However, we came out and probably played our most dominating game we've ever played. What a great way to win a championship by putting the game away early against a VERY good Skyline team. We can look forward to playing this team for many years to come as I know they'll be a good opponent for us.

Us coaches are so proud of you and what you've accomplished and like we said, we look forward to 5 more years of championships. It's expected now because we know what you're capable of. Continue to work hard and do your best in school. Continue to make your friendships within the team much stronger. When you see a teammate of yours, be sure to say hello to them and tell them you look forward to playing next year. We will only be successful if we are close as a group of teammates.

Check out the game stats on the right side of the web page for final season stats.

Lastly, we wouldn't have this highlight video if it weren't for the Skyline coaches, who had it filmed (our camera guy couldn't film because he didn't have a cover for his camera). Their camera person missed the first quarter, so those highlights were not included.

First round of playoffs: Kearns 34, Tooele 6

What a great way to start off the playoffs. We came out and completely dominated this game to set a great tone for the playoffs. So proud of you guys for making it this far. We have one more week to continue our streak and win a championship. Keep up the good work Kearns!

Kearns 30 Skyline 13

Way to go Kearns. We finished the regular season 9-0 with a great, convincing win against the toughest team we have faced all year. You have worked so hard this whole season for this. With the playoffs starting, now it's time to work even harder. Practice this week is Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 5pm at Kearns high school (main football field). We'll be practicing under the lights, so it should be a lot of fun.

Here is the highlight video for this week:

Kearns 26 Granger 18

This is by far the closest game we've played. The offense really stepped it up and put the points on the board that we needed, while the defense looked really good at times, we also did a horrible job of tackling, allowing 3 long TD's due to either being out of position, or poor tackling. Hopefully we will have learned that we have to show up to play every game and we need to continue to work hard.

Us coaches are still very proud of you guys and what you've accomplished. We're 8-0 with one VERY tough game to play still before the playoffs. We are currently tied with Skyline for first place, so the winner of this game will get the first seed in the playoffs.

Kearns 38 West 6

7 wins, 0 losses. Great job Cougars. We're proud of you and how far you have all come so far, but we still have 4 games left to play before we can consider ourselves the best team out there.

Keep working hard. Keep showing respect for each other. Keep playing as a team and for your brothers on the team.

Here are the highlights from today's game.

Practice reminder

Due to coaches being un-available, there is no practice on Monday, October 19th. We will see you all at Thomas Jefferson Jr High on Wednesday the 21st. Enjoy the time off.

Kearns 38 Cottonwood 12

We had a rough first half, but we came out in the second half and played great football like Kearns plays. There are still mistakes to fix and we need to continue to work hard in order to get better. It's still a great convincing win and we are now 6-0. Us coaches are proud of you all. Keep up the good work.

Kearns 52 Judge 6

Great job Cougs! We played a great game today, scoring on all 3 phases of the game: Offense, Defense, and Special Teams. It was a great TEAM effort today and us coaches are VERY proud of you.

As always, the statistics are updated on the right hand side of the web page. We have Cottonwood coming up next, so keep working hard toward that goal of going undefeated and winning a championship!

Kearns 39 South Summit 0

The team's first "Goose Egg"!! Good job guys. We've came this far because of hard work and preparation. We're looking much better on defense with our communication and moving around and making tackles as a team.

Here's the highlight video for this game. Don't forget to check out the season stats located on the right side of the blog.

Kearns 33 Tooele 6

WOW. Us coaches were expecting this to be a tough game, and from the first two drives it certainly seemed like it was. We turn the ball over on downs, then Tooele scores in two plays on a long run. However, we kept our chins up, never quit, and played football like Kearns knows how to play.

Great job guys!

Here's a highlight clip reel from the game.

Kearns 21 Riverton 7

Great games Cougs! We played tough against a very good team. We still have some things to correct, but we are getting there. We have a tough game coming up this week against Tooele, but you are a good team and you can beat them. It's going to take hard work and focus.

Kearns 32 East 20

Good game Kearns. Like coach said, we were all frustrated that we didn't have referees for this game, but we did good despite the challenge. There were some great highlights from this game, but they couldn't have happened without the TEAM contributing. Good job Kearns. We are 1-0 now, let's keep it going.

Here are some pictures and highlight video clips from the game. Don't forget to check out the team stats, located on the right side of the blog.

Kearns 33 Bingham 13

The season has officially begun with our first game against Bingham Blue (Their C-level team). We beat them 33-13. Things were looking a little shaky at first because we received the opening kick off, but fumbled it away a few plays later. I took the defense out on the field and Bingham scored within 2 plays. I thought we were in for a long day. We made some adjustments for the defensive line and started to shut their offense down, creating turnovers and stopping them on 4th down (they never punted).

It was a great win and we're very proud of the kids. Here are some video clips and pictures taken by Holly Matua and Lyann Finau.
